Dr. Curtis Zella


Dr. J. Curtis Zella

Dr. Zella received his Bachelor of Science in 1996 from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.  Dr. Zella also completed his Master of Physiology in 2000 and DVM in 2005 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, Wisconsin.  Since arriving in Lomira in July 2005, Dr. Zella has developed skills in canine reproduction, working closely with our clients who breed dogs. He has been well-received by staff and clients alike.

 

Dr. Zella has a particular interest in Dentistry, and Diagnostic Imaging as well as Preventative Medicine and Client Education.

 

Dr. Zella and his wife, Dr. Julia Zella, have been married since 1996.  They live with their two Siamese cats, Vito and Slayter and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Alfie.  Julia Zella is a scientist for the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

 

Dr. Zella completed his Master of Physiology in the field of auditory systems and perceptual neurophysiology and has published research works in Nature: Neuroscience and the Society for Neuroscience.  Dr. Zella was a biology teaching assistant at both Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

 

During his veterinary training Dr. Zella was awarded the peer-nominated Dr. J.E. Salisbury Foundation Scholarship Award for academics and the John G. Evans Memorial Award for clinical proficiency.  Dr. Zella is a member of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.

 

In their spare time, Dr. Zella and his wife enjoy home improvement projects, camping, golfing, traveling, gardening, and watching movies together.  Dr. Zella and his wife also enjoy spending time with family.  His sister, Lee Ann Zella and her fiancĂ©, Zach Short live in Madison, Wisconsin where Lee is completing her doctorate degree in biochemistry and Zach works as a sound engineer associate for Full Compass.
